Hi,
I have made tiny investments on your platform and now have made a tiny investment in you. I am new to this and aware of the risks, but don't really understand how it works. Is there a chance that a tiny investment can be swallowed up, and end up being worth nothing just because it is such a small amount?

Dear Jacqueline

Thanks for being an investor!

To answer your question: the value of your holding will go up as long as the value of each individual share is also going up, irrespective of whether you buy any more shares in subsequent rounds.

That sounds pretty straightforward but when it comes to investing in equity, there are a few things to look out for in terms of protecting your interests and irrespective of whether you are a small or large shareholder. Always near the top of the list would be who has voting rights (ie who controls the company), whether you can be ‘diluted’ (this is your question, see the paragraph below) and whether there are other classes of shares to the ones you one own which have preferential rights over yours.

Circumstances can change but we can’t take away those rights without your permission and as a business that is built on helping small investors, looking after our small shareholders (many of whom are also our customers) will always be important to us.

There is a lot in that answer, but I hope that has helped. Let us know if not.

Yours,
Louise

That was an excellent explanation, thank you very much! My hope is to make my little investments grow into something larger that I can leave my kids, learning slowly along the way, without risking more than I can afford to lose, on projects that mean something to me. Such as my investments through your platform that are aiming for a cleaner planet. Good luck to all of us!
